Technologies in Support of Learning
When applied properly, technology is a powerful tool that improves student learning, classroom participation and achievement. Technology is employed at the Academy of St. Adalbert when it benefits the learning and teaching needs of the student and connects with educational objectives of engaging the student, creating opportunities for collaborative learning, problem solving and critical thinking.
In each classroom at the Academy of St. Adalbert, teachers have at their disposal several computers and a printer in support of their classroom activities. All classrooms are networked and have the ability to share data via a server. Classrooms also have several Smart Boards available to them for presenting interactive and collaborative computer content for the entire class.
All classes share a state of the art computer lab, and are taught by a State-certified computer instructor. Students learn typing, Internet research, and many applications that are useful through high school and college.
Our library, with over 10,000 holdings, is indexed and available for searching on the Internet from school or home. The library also offers Accelerated Reader, a reading management program that continuously guides students to appropriate books within a personalized zone that challenges yet does not frustrate them. Accelerated Reader also provides teachers with detailed data on guided reading practice and allows them to better target instruction.
