St. Edward's Classroom of Champions Competition

On Wednesday night, 3 of our 8th graders and 1 of our 7th graders brought pride to the Academy of St. Adalbert.  They participated in St. Edward High School's Classroom of Champions, which is similar to Academic Challenge.  They did not win, which is fine, because at the Academy of St. Adalbert, it is not the winning that matters, but using the gifts God has given us to their fullest ability.  These 4 students came from the smallest of the schools participating that night, they were first to answer questions and they were front and center in front of their audience.  With all of those factors, they gave 100% and made every person who came to support them proud.  Our team captain, Mike Butler, led the main team, consisting of Hannah Mitchell and Anthony Parrilla to a first round win.  John Joseph, our only alternate, was there to provide support and begin the preparation for next year.  Mrs. Stratman would like to thank those 4 students; as well as, the rest of the 8th grade class for all of their effort in practicing for this event.

Math-a-thon®

Parents, watch next week for information coming home regarding the Saint Jude Math-a-Thon.  Students in grades Kindergarten through 8th will be participating in a 200 point Math-a-thon in which they can raise money to help the efforts of St Jude and child cancer research.

Computer Club

The Academy of St. Adalbert is pleased to announce a new Computer Club.  With the speed at which technology is advancing, it is difficult to cover all the topics in which students have an interest.  In order to supplement our computer science curriculum, Mrs. Stratman is teaming up with Mrs. Walton to offer this new after school club to students in grades 4 through 8.  The first meeting is Wednesday, March 18th from 2:30-3:15 in the computer lab.  Look for the permission slip in family mail.
