Special Services available to the Academy of St. Adalbert Students
The Academy of St. Adalbert offers the following special services to students who qualify:
Quest: Accelerated Learning - Students will be invited to participate in gifted program if they meet the criteria set by the school. Once in the program, the students will be required to meet the performance standards set by the Quest teacher. See below for additional information.
Title I - Our academy qualifies for this federally funded, US Department of Education program based on the number of economically disadvantaged families enrolled. However, any child, regardless of his/her economic status, may be served by these funds. Our Title I teacher is housed in the Modular Unit on a full-time basis. Classes are daily.
Speech - In accordance with state standards, speech therapy classes are provided through state funding. These classes aid in the remediation of incorrect speech patterns, assist in the correction of expressive and receptive language patterns, and provide a modified speech and hearing program for students with auditory deficiencies. Classes are twice weekly.
Remedial Instruction - This includes individual and small group instruction in reading and math, performed by a certified teacher from the Module Instruction Unit and funded through State of Ohio funds. Classers are daily.
Psychological Services - Counseling and psychological services are provided for the purpose of testing and assessing student needs. Counseling sessions are also provided. Referrals may be made by the Principal, teacher, or parents. Permission from the parent is required before services are rendered. Meetings are twice weekly.
Learning Disabilities - Tutoring is provided for those students who qualify for LD classes. Classes are held several times per week for 30 minute sessions. Sessions are one on one or in a very small group.
