Ski/Snowboard Club Facts

The final deadline for joining Ski/Snowboard Club is December 14th.  Please call Mrs. Nedbalski ASAP at 440-734-6575 if you are interested in joining.

  • We will ski every Wednesday, after school, during January and February, beginning January 9th, for 8weeks.
  • Students are driven to the ski center by parent volunteers.  We ask that parents with students in Ski Club please let us know if you can drive, or take a turn at driving.  The Club has been small enough in the past that a few parents have been all that's needed to take all of the students.  The advisors will be staying with the students, and parent drivers may stay also.
  • Just because there is no snow in your yard does not mean that there is no snow on the slopes.  They are making snow whenever the temperature drops.
  • Students will come off the slopes by 7pm.  Any student not following this rule will need to sit at the table for a 15 minute period at the start of the next ski week session.  We hate this rule too, but we NEED to leave the ski area by 7:15 so that we can arrive back to school on time.  There will be parents waiting back at school.
  • Students need to come to school on Wednesday mornings with ALL of their ski clothes and equipment.  Most important are GLOVES AND HATS.  Goggles, a neck gator is preferred over a scarf, and layers of non-cotton clothing are needed to have an enjoyable time.  A layer of long johns, then sweats, then ski bibs for padding are all ideal. A pair of nylon socks under ski/thermal socks should keep their feet warm.  Dressing in layers will keep them toasty.  A pair of jeans only gets wet and stays wet and cold.  Please be sure the outer layer will shed water to keep them dry.  Be sure the layer next to their skin will wick away the moisture-so all cotton is not a good choice.  The sporting goods dept. of all major stores carries cold weather gear at a discount.
  • Students will change into their ski clothes at school, before leaving for the slopes.  They will take all of their belongings into the car they will be traveling in and they are strongly encouraged to do their homework on the ride to the slopes.  They may even sit at the table with the advisors to work on homework if they prefer to cut their skiing time short that evening. Ski club is not an excuse for not doing homework.
  • Students may pack a sandwich/snack and beverage, or bring money to buy food at the concession.  Please be sure they are prepared for the day.  Let us know if they need any medications to take with them.
  • We will return to school, to the east area of the parking lot, by 8pm.  Please be prompt in picking up your child, they will be tired and anxious to relax.
  • Typically, we arrive at the slopes and are greeted by our ski club moderator.  The students will get their equipment, with help if needed, then secure all shoes and extras.  Ideally they should go out for the first lessons before the other school clubs arrive.  Lessons last for 1 hour and then we ask the students to come back into the lodge to rest and eat.  They may then go back outside with their ski buddy and practice what they have learned.  They must NEVER ski without a friend.
  • Students may ONLY ski on the slopes the instructor has deemed them qualified for after having successfully passed a lesson.
  • WE NEED A PHONE NUMBER THAT YOU CAN BE REACHED AT.
