Adopt-a-Student and Diocesan Financial Aid

There are two sources of financial aid for which you may qualify.  The first, Adopt-a-Student, is a St. Adalbert Parish program for students in need.  The second source is the Diocese of Cleveland.

Adopt-a-Student

The Pastor and Tuition Committee of St. Adalbert Parish provide an assistance program called Adopt-a-Student for Academy of St. Adalbert students in financial need.  Examples of some qualifying situations are:

  • Parents who are having financial shortfalls in meeting tuition payments and whose students may have to withdraw from the Academy of St. Adalbert,
  • Potential students whose families are having difficulty raising tuition in order to send their children to the Academy of St. Adalbert, and
  • Families whose financial circumstances have changed to their disadvantage.

The Adopt-a-Student program is funded solely through the generosity of individuals and companies who contribute to the program.

You may apply for the Adopt-a-Student program at any time by submitting a detailed letter of your circumstances to Father Keller and the Tuition Committee.  Send the letter to:

St. Adalbert Parish

If you need to contact the parish after sending your letter, please call (440) 234-6830.  Parish office hours are from 9AM to 4PM Mon - Fri and 6PM to 9PM Mon - Fri.

Diocesan Tuition Assistance from the Office of Catholic Education, Diocese of Cleveland

Diocesan tuition assistance is available to families in need financially with children in kindergarten through grade 12 attending Catholic elementary and high schools within the Diocese of Cleveland.

To be considered, families must fill out a financial aid form called a PSAS Application.   An independent company called Private School Aid Service (PSAS) does an objective evaluation of a family's financial profile for the Diocese of Cleveland.  The PSAS Application form is submitted directly to PSAS for evaluation.  If you need help completing the PSAS form, contact PSAS at 440-892-4272.

By completing a PSAS form, you are automatically considered by the Diocese of Cleveland for their tuition assistance program funded by the Catholic Education Endowment Trust (CEET). The deadline for the first round, where the majority of available aid is granted, is March 1. Notification of these awards is expected by mid-May. There is a second round with a deadline of June 1 and notification is by mid-July. These notifications come directly from the Diocese of Cleveland.

Depending on family needs and the diocesan funds available, grants usually range from $200-$1000 for elementary school or $400-$1500 for high school. Special scholarships with separate criteria are also available and can be discussed with the principal.

Note that you must also fill out the PSAS form to be evaluated for the Bishop Pilla Scholarship, Cathedral Latin Scholarship, Bernie Kosar Scholarship, and the M. Thomas Moore Scholarship.

Financial Aid awards may be renewed annually. To qualify for renewal, a new PSAS form must be completed each year and demonstrate continued financial need.
